Whatever symbol is used to point out the location of any individual should have nothing to do with why anyone would commit a deadly crime.

The symbol could have been an image of a sports car, pretty flower, Japanese flag, pit bull, or even a skull and crossbones.  Whatever was used should have no bearing on forcing anyone to actually go out with a gun to shoot anyone.   There are many pictures of tall bridges, freight trains, car crash results, etc. during our daily lives.  Yet, none of them can be blamed for the actions of anyone who jumps from a bridge, steps in front of a fast moving freight train, or crashes their car into an oncoming truck.

Maybe a small picture of a rickshaw would have told the gunman to ram the crowd of people with a high speed rickshaw instead of using a gun to shoot them.  Or, a picture of a small puppy would have meant for him to use a pack of dogs as the weapon of choice.

Either way, the average person isn't going to kill anyone just because of a name and location on a map, no matter what the symbol is.    Anyone who would do such a thing would be sure to find a way of justification on their own without help from a small symbol on a map.
