Huron-Kinloss Township has outstanding taxes of $477,253.60 for 2010. Including tax arrears from 2009, and 2008 and older, the total comes to $667,344 which equals 5.53 per cent of the 2010 levy. That was the report from deputy treasurer Christine Heinisch to council at its meeting Monday night (Jan. 17). Last year at this time, the tax arrears were $617,816 which was 5.45 per cent of the 2009 levy. The outstanding amount for 2010 makes up 71.52 per cent of the total, while the 2009 arrears of $151,935.20 make up 22.76 per cent, and 2008-plus arrears of $38,155.20 make up 5.72 per cent. Treasurer Jodi MacArthur said the numbers aren't startling and are consistent with other years.
