Big Couple, Ryan (L) and Candace Hindle, enjoyed bowling with their Little Brother, Austin Nickel at last year's event

Last year about 250 bowlers on 37 teams, took part in the event, raising almost $30,000 for the agency which matches Big Brothers and Big Sisters with Little Brothers and Little Sisters, or Big Couples with Littles, or Big Bunch groups. The purpose is to mentor young people to become the best they can be.

The top pledge earner for 2010 was Ernie Parent, with $3,378.65.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters is involved in many community events, such as the Gingerbread Decorating contest held Dec. 20 at Tramonto's in downtown Kincardine.

The contest saw designers from Tramonto's, Gilley's, New Season's, Erie Belle, Walker House and The Tartan Toad compete.

The gingerbread houses were then auctioned off, with The Tartain Toad and Gilley's tying for top honours.

The local restaurants that participated did so as a fund-raiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The agency appreciates their support.
