If you like scary stories with happy endings, get a ticket to the Kincardine District Secondary School drama class production of "Twisted Tales of Terror."

The play is being shown tonight (Jan. 24) in the KDSS auditorium at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 each for adults, $5 each for students, and free for children under age 12 accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available at the door.

The Grades 11 and 12 drama students are in charge of everything in this production, including the hair and make-up, costumes, acting, lighting and sound, under the direction of drama teacher Bill McLaughlin.

The show tells five stories of horrific proportions: the dramatic tale of Dracula; the sad tale of three children turned into werewolves; the miserable tale of two lovers who are killed, mummified and forced to wander the world forever; the weird tale of Frankenstein and his bride; and the wacky tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The stories are held together beautifully with running commentary by the storyteller, played by Jessica Gallant, and her husband, Igor, played by Connor Coultrup.

The twist comes when the storyteller is saddened by how the stories end so tragically, and decides to change them.

It's a terrific show, with plenty of talent on display. The final dance number, itself, is worth the price of admission.

The play was written by Jeanine Harvey and used by permission of Baker's Plays.
