A new doctor is set to arrive in Kincardine to set up practice, this spring. Last night (Jan. 26), at its regular meeting, Kincardine council approved an incentive and lease agreement package with Dr. Lisa Denobriga. Chief administrative officer John deRosenroll explained that the process to bring this new doctor to the municipality was actually begun last fall, thanks to the partnership with Bruce Power and Saugeen Shores for physician recruitment and retention. "With a full-time physician recruiter, we can move forward with attracting doctors to fill our medical clinic," said deRosenroll. "Just a reminder," said councillor Ron Coristine, "health care is a provincial responsibility. We're facing great tax increases already. My concern is that the responsibility for this (health care) is not going to where it should be." Councillor Maureen Couture agreed, saying it's unfortunate the province is not taking responsibility for health care.
