As this is reported, it appears this
committee will be hamstrung before it begins - limit the number of
participants, hand pick the members that council wants and screen
out anyone who doesn't agree with them, restrict public input to a
maximum of 3 meetings, and only focus on the main beaches in Port
Elgin and Southampton.
The waterfront committee should deal with
the entire waterfront from the Saugeen River to MacGregor Point
Provincial Park. And Diane Huber is right. There should be
representation from all the groups that "have an axe to grind" to
ensure every voice and opinion is heard and valued. Council will
be surprised by the information that is presented and everyone will
benefit from looking at things from a different point of view.
