There is extreme 'nature' all over the world and Bruce County is no exception. Over the many years, there have been record snowfalls, a documented hurricane and many records of ice floes and heavy gales and storms. Now, at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, Saugeen Shores, the Extreme Nature exhibit illustrates the extreme and dramatic weather that Bruce County has experienced.
Adventurer, George Kourounis As a complement to the exhibit, George Kourounis of the television program the Angry Planet, was at the Museum on Saturday where an audience saw first-hand the adventures and near-death experiences that he has undergone in search of ultimate adventure experiences around the world. Kourounis' "day at the office" consists of some of the most dangerous adventures on the planet. From chasing tornadoes and hurricanes to descending into erupting volcanoes, he has experienced some of the most unusual and unique adventures in the world. His live footage in the middle of Hurricane Katrina, in the death defying Naica Crystal Cave in Mexico and his descent into the ever-erupting volcano Yasur in Vanuatu between Fidji and New Zealand, left the audience breathless. "Adventure is about stepping outside your comfort zone," said Kourounis. "It's about challenging yourself to do what you are afraid of. It doesn't have to be something big, it can be something small but that's a challenge for you." |
