Port Elgin and Southampton Tim Horton's outlets have made February their month of choice for Food Bank collections. "Most of the food drives by different organizations and groups take place in the fall and just before Christmas," says Saugeen Shores' Tim Horton's owner, Louise Harshman. "We decided to hold our Food Bank drive in February because, after the holiday season, the food bank shelves are generally empty. Many people are catching up on their Christmas bills and organizations just don't have the volunteer back-up at this time of the year." According to Harshman, the two outlets collect hundreds of pounds of food. "The drive only lasts a week or so but people keep bringing in their donations, so we just gladly keep on collecting. The support from the community is absolutely amazing."
