The 9th Annual Rotary 'Winterama' celebrates not only winter but also the children who live in Bruce and Grey Counties. Despite blizzard conditions throughout Saturday (Feb. 12), many activities went ahead as planned. Among them that raised funds through pledges were cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and skating. In addition this year, the schools got involved and students made a definite difference with their various 'Winterama' fundraisers.

Working with the United Way, Rotarians continue to help children. At a preliminary count, Saugeen Shores Rotarian, Gerry Moss, said that this year's event was expected to be the best ever held with more than $4,000 being raised by two schools alone which boosted the total to more than $6,500, although more funds are yet to come in. "All the money raised," said Moss, "goes to things like playground equipment, the Eat and Learn Program, DARE drug program, Special Olympics, bursaries, PRANCE riding, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts and many other endeavours."
