Hanging on during a simulated 'earthquake'

One of the most popular exhibits was the earthquake simulator.  Children and adults had the chance to experience what an earthquake actually feels like at three different levels.

Museum Director, Barbara Ribey

Curator and Museum Director, Barbara Ribey, who greeted visitors, said that level three was even too much for her.  "I can't even imagine what it would be like to actually experience an earthquake of that magnitude when the simulator is frightening!"

'Dickie Bird' entertained 'kids' of all ages

Another popular attraction that appealed to every age was 'Dickie Bird' [Richard Knechtel], a renowned children's entertainer.  Although he performed two shows in the Bruce Power Theatre to a packed audience, he also became a strolling troubadour throughout the Museum entertaining visitors with song.

Out of doors, overlooking Fair Lake, the bright sunshine and perfect snow conditions gave visitors the chance to try their hand, or feet, at snowshoeing.  Thorncrest Outfitters of Southampton were on hand with a wide variety of snowshoes for every age and size.  From the experienced to the novice, visitors could don snowshoes and experience the trails around Little Lake [a.k.a.Fairy Lake].
