It's almost Oscar time, and that has put plans in motion for the 2011 myFM Kincardine International Film Festival.

Rob Mise, general manager of myFM, says he's hoping to capitalize on last year's success. He says it could not have happened without all the great sponsors, and the Lions Club and volunteers who helped out.

He is working with The Toronto International Film Festival again this year, to bring more great independent films to Kincardine. He says one of last year's movies, will be front and centre at the Oscars.

“One of the surprise entries we had last year was 'The Kids Are All Right,' which went on to win big, big awards, and is up for an Oscar,” says Mise. “It's one example of a film that was independent and under the radar. We showed it at the film festival last year and it became a huge hit. We're really happy we picked that movie. We're looking at some sort of surprise events and surprise movies heading into this year too.”

Mise says the 2011 myFM Kincardine Film Festival is scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 9-11 and will again be held at the Aztec Theatre in downtown Kincardine.

“We're working with Mark Lalonde to put together a great package this year,” says Mise. “We couldn't have done it last year without our great sponsors. We had a fantastic response from everyone, especially the many movie-goers who came out every single night.”

That package will include parties, night-time screenings, after-parties and a kids' afternoon too.
