The Kincardine Legion, Branch 183, presented a cheque for $7,500 to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation Wednesday morning.

The money will help pay for an Electrocautery System (total cost, $25,000), said foundation co-ordinator Diane Baldwin.

The funding comes from the Ontario Provincial Command Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation. All Legion branches donate to this foundation and the money is then presented to various organizations.

On hand to make the donation were Red Larsen, president and co-poppy chairman of the Kincardine Legion; Donna Wilson, public relations officer of the Kincardine Legion; and Derek Moore, District "C" chairman of the charitable foundation.

Accepting on behalf of the hospital foundation was Jennifer Cook, past-president and director.

So far, the Ontario Provincial Command and Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation has donated a total of $22,500 to the hospital foundation:

  • 2008 - $7,500 toward Mammogram Machine
  • 2009 - $7,500 toward Electrocardiograph (ECG)
  • 2010 – $7,500 toward Electrocautery System

The Kincardine Legion has donated $65,650, to date, for various medical equipment at the Kincardine hospital.
