Eight-year-old Holly Becker of Colpoy’s Bay and her parents were among more than 200 people who attended the annual Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association Family Day Open House.
Holly said she had fun and learned a lot from archery instructor Karen Van Nest during the Monday event at the association Clubhouse west of Wiarton. The event introduces parents and young people to the various activities organized each year by the Wiarton based conservation organization. The open house included tours of the club hatchery. Since the sixties BPSA members have stocked over 5-million rainbow and brown trout and salmon in Grey-Bruce waters. The 450-member Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association is renowned for its work preserving and protecting fish, wildlife and the environment.
