Huron-Kinloss council's plan to save money by freezing its salaries last year, has worked. The remuneration report, released by treasurer Jodi MacArthur this week, shows the total remuneration for council members and the livestock evaluator was $98,668.17. That's down from 2009's figure of $100,869.13. Some councillors earned slightly more than the year before, based on their meeting attendance, while others earned less, and the livestock evaluator's fee was much lower, at $188.40, down from $871.06 in 2009. There were also no costs for the property standards committee in 2010. The previous year, that committee cost about $1,100. Mayor Mitch Twolan received a total of $22,243.75, including $19,000.24 in salary and per diems, $2,395.26 in travel and parking, $463.25 for accommodations, and $385 for meals. Deputy mayor Wilfred Gamble was paid a total of $13,607.87, including $12,347.74 in salary and per diems, and $1,260.13 in travel and parking. Councillor Lillian Abbott received a total of $12,236.54, including $11,039.94 in salary and per diems, and $1,196.60 in travel and parking. Councillor Anne Eadie was paid $13,921.68, including $12,241.52 in salary and per diems, and $1,680.16 in travel and parking. Councillor Jeff Elliott received $11,928.22, including $10,908.92 in salary and per diems, and $1,019.30 in travel and parking. Councillor Jim Hanna was paid $9,047.70, including $8,419.54 in salary and per diems, $493.16 in travel and parking, and $135 for meals.

Councillor Don Murray received $15,472.01, including $13,791.36 in salary and per diems and $1,680.65 in travel and parking. New councillor Carl Sloetjes received $22 for travel and parking. The total for council remuneration was $98,479.77. Paul Murray, livestock evaluator, was paid $188.40, including $150 in salary and per diems, and $38.40 in travel and parking. Councillor Anne Eadie received $2,197.60 for serving on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, including $1,420 in salary and per diems, and $777.60 in travel and parking - paid for by the conservation authority. Deputy
mayor Wilfred Gamble received $1,152 in salary and per diems for
serving on the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority - paid for by the
