The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) has awarded the next round of Feed in Tariff (FIT) contracts.

There are 40 new projects, including 35 solar, four wind, and one water project.

Heather Boa, communications manager at Leader Resources Wind Development in Kincardine, says the company is not disappointed that local projects were not included in the four wind projects that received FIT contracts.

She says Leader Resources is happy that the OPA is starting to move the process along for wind energy.

Boa says she hopes the Bruce projects will receive FIT contracts soon.

Area wind projects that remain on the waiting list are the Arran Wind energy project, Central Huron project located between Goderich and Clinton, Summerhill, North Bruce wind energy project, and the Tiverton Wind Turbine.

In the coming weeks, the OPA expects to begin awarding more contracts.
