Chief Akiwenzie of Chippewa Nawash Unceded First Nation died this morning, March 4 2011.
Chief Ralph Akiwenzie of Chippewa Nawash Unceded First Nation signs historic agreement Although the cause of death has yet to be confirmed, it is known that Akiwenzie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Akiwenzie was one of three signees of an historical agreement between Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON), Nawash First Nation and Bruce Power that resulted in the First Nations being consulted on issued relating to energy sources and the First Nations' land claim in Bruce County.
