Enbridge Ontario Wind Farm, based in Kincardine, has a new general manager.

Ian MacRobbie, 38, has been on the job since Feb. 1, taking over from Bob Simpson who retired at the end of 2010.

Originally from Guelph, MacRobbie and his family live in Petrolia and he will be working two to three days per week in Kincardine.

He is overseeing various projects throughout southern Ontario including the Enbridge Wind Farm in Underwood, between Kincardine and Port Elgin.

"I've been working for Enbridge as operations manager at the gas storage facility outside Sarnia," says MacRobbie.

On the job in Kincardine for just a month, he was tying up a pair of bowling shoes and joining the Enbridge team at the Bowl for Kids' Sake in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District, Saturday night.

"I'm enjoying the work so far," he says, "but I have a lot  to learn."

And he has yet to get used to the Bruce County weather.

"My first week, I was storm-stayed up here for a couple of days," he says, "and the second week, the weather was so bad, I couldn't even get here."

Enbridge has another wind farm under construction near Thunder Bay, he says.

MacRobbie is married with three boys, ages seven, nine and 11.
