St. Anthony's School in Kincardine is receiving funding for a solar project.

Principal Keith Walsh said the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board applied to the Ontario Ministry of Education for three different environmentally-friendly projects at area schools. And St. Anthony's project was selected.

Walsh said a company is coming in to determine how many solar panels the school can have and any improvements the school will need. He also hopes to connect this project to the curriculum.

"One of our mandates is to somehow connect this to the Ontario curriculum," said Walsh, "where we can use this project at the school as sort of a springboard for our students to understand, a little bit better, the environmentally-friendly activities, saving the earth and those types of thinking and concepts."

Walsh said the project is a cost-saving measure and is mostly ministry-funded.
