Maria Bertrand of the Saugeen Shores Adult Learning Centre is in a quandary and is turning to the community for help.

"We have three situations where we need immediate help," says Bertrand.

  • We are looking for a guide/coach/mentor for a man who is disabled (he has had a stroke and is unable to talk) and is going to be 50 this year, making him still young. We would especially appreciate someone who has possibly gone through the same thing, or who has a disability but with a positive outlook on life and who would be willing to sit and chat with him ... to show by example that living a positive life and going out into the community with a disability is possible.

  • Also, we are looking for a gently used refrigerator for the Living Hope Church which is located downstairs in our building – Maple Square Mall. This is the group that puts on the community spaghetti dinner of which many of the Centre’s clients do attend. Is there anyone who is looking to donate a working refrigerator that is just taking up space in their home or garage to this organization?

  • There is a young man who is home from school and who is looking for a place to stay for four months in Southampton while working at a local business. He is willing to pay room and board and needs a place in Southampton as he is from Kincardine and he only has a bike for transportation. If anyone can help this ambitious young man, would they please contact me.

If anyone can help in these urgent situations, please contact Maria Bertrand at 519-389-2302 or email to: mar.bertr@gmail.com
