New 'wayfare signage' has recently been erected in Southampton, Saugeen Shores, and not everyone is happy about it. The town held several public meetings inviting input for both town entrance signage and wayfare signs.
The locations of some of the signs are being questioned along with the apparent 'over-size' height and redundancy of some. One of the signs in Southampton refers to the Beach and is, in fact, located within sight of the beach itself. Several residents have expressed that the sign is redundant and that "... anyone who can read the sign is almost on the beach..." The matter has been brought to the attention of the Town and its Mayor, Mike Smith, who says that it will be looked into and that negotiations are always a possibility. |
