A local resident's daughter and her family live in Tokyo. The father works for a multi-national corporation. The children communicate regularly with their grandfather via Skype. One of the main supply plants for the son-in-laws business was destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami. They have decided to leave for Australia for safety reasons and they left yesterday. Hopefully they will return soon. There is a possibility that the children's private school's classes will be terminated for the year. They also have a private tutor. The tutor's work will be interrupted too! The world-wide disruption of lives is evident. Another couple living in Osaka were 'evacuated' to Hong Kong by her company IKEA. He grew up in Southampton. One wonders why the evacuation? Is there a lack of trust in what is being said by the government or is it the memory of Chernobyl by the Swedish based company. They were in the plume of that disaster. Cleanup is always inspiring. It seems like an impossible task, but you can bet on the Japanese to do it. They know how to work together.
