Southampton has a rich history and the residents have such passion for the community which is why I love Southampton. My grandparents found the haven of Southampton in 1957 and my family has inherited the love of the town. Everyone who lives here, either part time or full time, is passionate about the town. I love the quaintness that is Southampton, the charm and the warmth of the community, and the wonderful spirit of the people.
I am supportive of reasonable signage but these signs are far too big and imposing and they don’t fit with the historic theme of the town. I ask the town to reconsider the size and quantity of the signs as I understand there are many more to come. I personally love the sandwich boards in the summer indicating a fish fry at Pioneer Park for the Rotary club and I, like many others, am most pleased to provide instructions and guidance/assistance to any visitor who needs help on how to get to the beach, to the merchants or to the harbour…that for me is the charm of Southampton and I hope we never lose it.
Please Council, reconsider the size and the scope of this project and let’s have signs that compliment the beauty of our town.
Sincerely,
Mary Putnam
