I was at the now famous LM tree with Dianne Waun and A Channel News reporters just getting ready for an interview at 2pm and my cell phone rang.

Talk about timing!!!!!

Martin  Favell, the Engineer in charge, called and  said no elms will be cut at this time. MTO will organize a specialist to assess  the elm trees this summer when they are in leaf. They will make sure they are healthy and then another decision will be made. I said that is fine with us. He asked us to take down our signs and not distract drivers so we have done that.   A victory for the common folks.

One person can make a difference when joined by others who think the same.

People who are passionate about beautiful trees have proven it pays to take a stand .

I want to thank Mike Brintnell of Exeter who made and donated the signs. Having my phone number posted allowed people to know someone else cared.

Please thank Mike of Mikes signs if you get a chance. His number is  519 235 3867.

Please send  an email to Martin Favell and thank for his time and reconsidering the position he had taken.

Thanks for all your support and email writing and phone calls.  Thanks especially to Dianne Waun for all her hard work and full support. I am elated!!!

We need to keep in touch to make sure the trees are cared for and continue to live and give us pleasure.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I couldn't have done it without each and every one of you.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Sitter.
