Dear Editor: With all due respect, I think that Kincardine council is making a very huge mistake in limiting or ignoring the role of the general public. Citizens have very few opportunities to participate in areas of specific interest to them. Instead of looking to "highly-paid consultants" at every opportunity, council could save a lot of money by retaining the citizens' voice. This can be accomplished by polling and/or special "ad hoc" committees. It may be quicker for the council and administrative staff to eliminate public volunteer committees of this and that, and make their own decisions. However, one need only look at the effects on our citizens of unelected but highly-paid CEOs and hospital boards, egged on by the Ontario Ministry of Health, making all kinds of inimical decisions without the voice of the general public at the table. A change of mind might be a wise decision! Ian
