KTG brings home awards
from Western Ontario Drama League festival

The Kincardine Theatre Guild's production of "Caught in the Net" brought home several awards from the Western Ontario Drama League festival held in London during March Break.

The show was performed Friday evening, March 18, before an enthusiastic audience.

Mercedes Battler, who played Vicki Smith, won the Elsie Thompson Memorial Award for outstanding performance by a juvenile.

johnJohn Adams, who played Stanley Gardner, won a Special Adjudicator's Award for "Batty Ad-Libbing and Outstanding Performance in a Towel."

Sid Duggan, who was Stanley's father in the play, won a Special Adjudicator's Award for "Physical Comedy."

Aaron Lewis, who was Gavin Smith, won a Special Adjudicator's Award for "Best Save."

"Caught in the Net" was nominated for the Pat and Vincent Mathewson Memorial Award for outstanding ensemble work. The award went to "There Goes the Bride," by the Aylmer Community Theatre.

John Adams was nominated for the Terry Doyle Memorial Award for outstanding performance by an actor in a major role. The award went to Chris Lanspeary as George in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" by Theatre Windsor.

Theatre Windsor's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" was named best production, and received the drama league regional trophy. That show will go on to the Theatre Ontario Festival in Richmond Hill in May.
