Crabby Joe's Tap and Grill in Kincardine is closed, as of yesterday (March 15). A sign on the door, entitled "Notice of Landlord's Distress," states that the landlord, Obsidian Inc., has taken distress against the goods and chattels at the premises at 113 Sutton St., Kincardine, Ontario, due to rent arrears of $25,798.90. The locks on the doors have been changed and the tenant, Krabby Kennedys Hospitality Inc., has five days to pay the rent owing, and costs and expenses in connection with the recovery of this rent, or the goods in the building will be appraised and sold. Calls to Crabby Joe's and to owner/operator Doug Kennedy have not yet been returned. Crabby Joe's opened in March, 2008, and was just about to host celebrations to mark its third year in business. It had about 50 staff - over half of those were full-time employees.
