This joint fundraising project has been developed between the Grey Bruce Special Hockey team of 20 players with intellectual disabilities in partnership with Community Living Walkerton & District.

The goal of Community Living Walkerton & District and the hockey team, The Falcons, is to give people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate and reinforce friendships with their peers through sportsmanship and fair play while focusing on having good old-fashioned fun.

Community Living Walkerton & District would like to ensure that "all persons live in a state of dignity, share in all aspects of community living and have the opportunity to participate effectively".

The Grey Bruce Spring Fun Run will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, with Registration opening at 8:30am.  A pancake breakfast will also be held from 8:30am – 11:30am followed by the 5K and 1K walk/run starting at 10:00am.

Among the sponsors for this event include Brown's Pharmacy, Bruce Power, CKNX Radio, H & R Block, Dunkeld Tavern and Hammond Power Solutions. There are five sponsorship levels to choose from, ranging from $50 - $5,000 that will be include being featured on the event brochure and advertisements, media coverage and on the event website.

The route will start and finish at the Walkerton Agriculture Building #2, 210 Durham St W, Walkerton. Registration fees are again reasonable this year and include a T-shirt for each participant in addition to several prizes that promote health living.
