Southampton Art Gallery is about to launch its 9th annual 'Feast for the Eyes'.

The event is a unique art exhibit created by local artists from across Bruce and Grey counties that not only supports local artists but is also a fundraiser for local organizations, including the local Salvation Army food Bank, the Community Gardent Project and the Southampton Arts Society.

The 80 artists who submitted more than 100 pieces of work for consideration were also asked to donate a non-perishable food item for the local food bank and/or a packet of organic vegetable seeds for the Community Garden project in S|outhampton.  Visitors to the exhibit are also encouraged to bring these items to the Gallery.

The opening gala to be held on Friday, April 8th at the Gallery will feature a 'delicious' silent auction that will include gift baskets, gift certificates to local restaurants and locally grown ' farm-fresh' produce.

Among the jurors of the exhibit are:  Marilyn Cambell an international wood turner, Ruth Dalton who owns Dalton Pottery in Ripley and James Fowler a Toronto urban landscape painter.  In addition, there are several sponsors for the exhibit that include local businesses, individuals, artists and an anonymous donor.l

The Opening Gala takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Southampton Art School on Albert Street in Southampton.
