Crabby Joe's Tap and Grill in Kincardine is now open.

New owner/operator Ian Cumming and his staff welcomed patrons Thursday morning to the familiar surroundings but a new menu.

Cumming just took over Tuesday and was able to open quickly, thanks to a good management crew. He has about 35-40 staff hired and expects to hire a few more in all departments.

He also operates the Crabby Joe's locations in Port Elgin and Hanover and said taking on the one in Kincardine was all about timing.

"Geographically, it works for us," he says."I consider myself a local in Bruce County. Kincardine is in the same jurisdiction and we know people here."

The new menu features four new steaks, new pasta dishes and new salads.

"We're offering fresh burgers, not frozen, and a new lunch express menu," says Cumming. "We have tremendous food and the focus is on freshness. Our salads are freshly cut before each meal."

The restaurant still has the sports bar on one side and the dining room on the other, and the hours remain 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday; and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. However, the telephone number has changed and is now 519-396-9050.

A special dine-in promotion, for a limited time, features every burger at $7 until 5 p.m. daily; and every steak at $12 from 5-10 p.m. daily.

Cumming, who lives just outside Paisley, is looking forward to creating the same solid management team in Kincardine as he has established at the two other locations.
