Digital Mammography Campaign receives $1,500 donation and challenge from South-Port Optimist club The South-Port Optimists have issued a challenge to all Saugeen Shores service clubs to meet or exceed their $1,500 donation to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation regional digital Mammography Campaign. Recognizing the importance of having the latest technology available, and that one out of five women using the mammography service in Owen Sound come from Saugeen Shores, the Optimist members hope their donation will encourage others to support the campaign. The Mammography Campaign is also in keeping with the Optimist motto “bringing out the best in kids” because breast cancer affects families and children. The donation was made to the Mammography Campaign committee which is includes Gerry Malcolmson and Pat Sanagan and Martha Bennett of the Chantry Island Chambettes and Sylvia Sheard from the Pretty In Pink team and Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation board members Erin Zorzi, Mary Ann Weickert and Christine Kelly. The regional digital mammography campaign goal is to raise $300,000 and the Hospital Foundation appreciates the community groups and individuals who have already made this important campaign a priority. For those interested in supporting the campaign they can contact the Hospital Foundation office at the Southampton Hospital at 797-3230 ext 3230.
