Sixteen Grades 7 and 8 French Immersion students performed the Stations of the Cross for their classmates at St. Anthony's School Monday morning. The compelling portrayal of the last hours in the life of Jesus Christ before he was crucified on the cross, will be performed two more times: this afternoon (April 19) at 1 p.m. in French, and tonight (April 19) at 6 p.m. for the public. In the performance, the school gymnasium is pitch black which forces the audience to focus entirely on the stage as each Station is depicted in silhouette. The First Station shows Jesus condemned to die. The Second Station has Jesus carrying the cross. The Third Station has Jesus falling under the weight of the cross for the first time. The Fourth Station shows Jesus meeting his mother. The Fifth Station has Simon helping Jesus carry the cross. The Sixth Station shows a woman wiping the face of Jesus. The Seventh Station has Jesus falling for the second time. The Eighth Station shows Jesus speaking to the women and children.
