The Kincardine District Secondary School Kinetic Knights gathered in the school library Monday afternoon for a "de-briefing" session and a general discussion on how to raise the money for the team to compete on the world stage. The robotics team has had its best year ever, bringing home gold and silver medals, awards, trophies and banners from three FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) regional competitions. At the Greater Toronto West regional, the Knights qualified for the world championship in St. Louis, Missouri, which takes place in a couple of weeks. It will cost $5,000 for registration, and about $35,000 for transportation to get the 40 team members and 10 mentors to the competition. The team also wants to leave some seed money for next year. Bruce Power, the major sponsor
of the Kinetic Knights, has donated $15,000 toward the Knights' trip to
the worlds, leaving the team to fund-raise another $25,000.
