Royal Tea at Southampton's Hampton Court

Hampton Court in Southampton held an early celebration 'Royal Wedding Tea' on Wednesday (Apr. 17).

Residents decorated their own hats in all the finery of spring and enjoyed a 'high tea' celebration that included sweets and 'petit-fours'.

Residents and visitors were also given a keepsake celebratory package of English teas.

The highlight of the occasion was David Gray's collection of rare Royal memorabilia that he has collected over the decades. 

Royal Windsor Cross

An avid monarchist, Gray has some very unusual items, including, matchbox covers with Royal images, teacups and many collectible magazines and photos.  Among his prized possessions is the Royal Windsor Cross created by Spode of England, commemorating Prince William's birth and sent to Gray by his brother in England.

Excitement is building toward Friday, April 29th, when the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate will take place beginning at 5:00 a.m. in North America and nowhere was it more evident on Wednesday than at Hampton Court in Southampton.
