The Anglican Church Women toasted the Royals with champagne and orange juice

'Lady Jean Beaton' and 'Admiral Lacey' [a.k.a. Chuck Beaton] were joined by Reverend Mona Goulette (R)

With local names such as Kingsway Arms, Southampton, Port Elgin and Bruce County, the ties to the United Kingdom run deep throughout the region.  Therefore, when a Royal wedding of the  magnitude of the future King of England occurs, the celebrations are widespread.

Kingsway Arms at Elgin Lodge celebrated in royal style with a live broadcast of the wedding at 5:00 a.m. [Canadian time] followed by a champagne breakfast.

Hats are a must at a 'royal' wedding

Those who attended the special event did so in style, elegantly attired complete with stylish hats. For some who were born in England, it was a time of jubilation but also one of remembering ... the wedding of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the wedding of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon, the wedding of Diana and Prince Charles.  All these were remembered and talked about on the special morning of the wedding of Prince William and the 'commoner' Kate, who also bears the middle name of the Queen, Elizabeth.

The event was co-hosted by the Anglican Church Women as a fundraiser for children and monies raised will go toward the 'Pencils for Children' initiative to help purchase school supplies.
