The Kincardine Community Concert Band

The Kincardine Community Concert Band won gold at the Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music in Owen Sound April 11, and brought home the Bayshore Broadcasting Award as well.

The band played two selections: "Encanto" (Robert W. Smith) and the rousing "Royal Air Force March Past" (Davis and Dyson).

This is the third consecutive year the band has been awarded a gold standing in the community instrumental class by the festival adjudicators.

One of the band’s attributes, which the adjudicator commented on, was the wide range in age of members, from 12 to 80. The adjudicator also commented that overall, the band gave an excellent performance.

The band practises every Wednesday evening at Kincardine District Secondary School under the direction of Mary Kloosterboer. New members of any age and any experience level, are welcome.

The band's next public appearance will be Wednesday, July 6, in Dunsmoor Park, for the opening performance of the 2011 weekly Music in the Park series.
