The John Hawrylyshyn Award for best coaching goes to the Atom Rep coaches: Dave Charette (L), Joanne Beishuizen, John McFarlane and Jeff Richardson

Players, coaches and volunteers all received recognition for their hard work and dedication during the Ripley Minor Hockey Banquet held Friday night at the Ripley Arena.

President Dan Wilken is stepping down, with Dianne Simpson taking over the job. Wilken will remain on the executive as past-president.

Also leaving the executive are Carolyn Harris, Fiona Scott and Heather Card.

Receiving awards for being most improved in their division were the following:

  • Rookie of the year, Eve Snobelen
  • Junior Tyke, Teegan Van der Hoek
  • Senior Tyke, Brandon Holland
  • Novice LL, Paiten Priboj
  • Novice Rep, Jami Thompson
  • Atom LL, Landon Hunter
  • Atom Rep, Madison Beishuizen
  • PeeWee, Kirsten Walden
  • Bantam, Tyson Rutledge
  • Midget LL, Jesse Nelson
  • Midget Rep, Brett Walden
  • Juvenile, Shawn Walden
  • Girls Midget, Cassandra Howse

Bob and Peg Taylor presented the Steven Taylor Memorial Award to Tommy Harris for being the most sportsmanlike Bantam player.

Rob and Ann Miller presented the Joel Miller Memorial Award, to Spencer Harris. This award goes to a player, heading off to post-secondary education, who demonstrates true sportsmanship in the game of hockey. Spencer is attending Ridgetown College in the fall.

John and Pat Chatham presented the Tara Chatham Memorial Award to Blaire Courtney. This award goes to the most dedicated female hockey player.

An appreciation award went to Mark and Donna McBride, who act as referee-in-chief.

Registration deadline for Ripley Minor Hockey is May 16. The annual general meeting is Tuesday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m.
