Building on an ongoing commitment to support health care and nurses, RBC has announced a $10,000 donation to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. The donation will fund training programs and educational opportunities that will allow nurses to provide leading-edge health care to the community. As part of RBC’s health care investment, the financial institution has launched the Nursing Excellence Awards program during National Nurses’ Week, from May 9-13. The community will be invited into the local RBC branch to read the stories of six exceptional nurses and vote for the nurse they feel is most deserving of a bursary for professional development. The winners will use the bursary for training programs and continuing education to further develop their skills and provide the most advanced health care services to the community. “Continuing education programs are a vital component in the ongoing training and professional development of nurses,” said John Larsen, board chairman of the Walkerton District Hospital Foundation. “The RBC Nursing Excellence Awards will allow nurses to benefit from these programs and ensure that our loved ones receive the best possible care.” “Our health care system is built upon the strength of our nurses,” said Bruce Gehlen, regional vice-president for Central Ontario, RBC. “This program is RBC’s way of thanking nurses for their tremendous work in keeping our communities healthy.”
