Dr. Jeff Berry (L) and Dr. Sarah Charron (R) welcome Dr. Erica Dickie (C)

Southampton Pet Hospital has a new doctor of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Erica Dickie, a graduate of the Guelph school of Veterinary Medicine, recently joined the staff at the local pet hospital.

Dickie has a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and heard about the Southampton Pet Hospital while working in the pathology unit in Guelph.

"I knew that the hospital practised quality medicine," says Dickie, "and I came up in my fourth year as part of the rotational program."

While Dr. Berry specializes in canine and feline medicine,  Dickie has a special affinity for rabbits.

"I had a pet rabbit for 10 years," explains Dickie, "and became very familiar with them.  It was always very difficult to find a veterinarian who knew much about rabbits and, therefore, I wanted to become more involved in their care."

Dickie has several published articles and, among them, is a research paper on rabbits published in the Canadian Veterinarian Journal.
