A Great White Egret I've seen these folks before. They come every year at this time and admire us. They seem to love it here on Chantry Island. Welcome back! Photos by Carol Walberg |

The Marine Heritage Society and Propeller Club installed the over water walkways and dock at Chantry Island in preparation for the tourist season. It was a good day with the sun shine, cold water and hard work.
Ready? The walkways are loaded and ready to go. The double dock serves as a barge pulled by the Peerless.
Director (shades and all) Joe Sholtes Joe Sholtes served again as the leader of the installation team. Joe gets every nut and bolt ready and directs the new volunteers to the task at hand. It always looks hard, but it's easy as it has been done every year for 10 years.
Cold? No not at all In the water volunteers await the docks and walkways pulled by the brand new Peerless. While waiting they try to extract the chains that will hold the dock in place. They were buried in about 8 inches of clay as the winter winds and ice plowed them under.
Teamwork Teamwork secures the walkways together as one after another the in water crew turns the work over to the on the walkways crew
Final Touches Signs on the docks are the final touches. We are ready. Join the more than 12,000 people who have gone on the two hour tour |
