The Town of Saugeen Shores has started an in-depth review of the former Town Hall in Southampton.  The purpose is to prepare a capital improvement forecast and agenda with the purpose of restoring and maintaining the facility.  A detailed report is scheduled to be presented in October, 2011.

The Town has contracted with a Heritage Building Specialist Thor Dingman.  The project will include:

  • A five year capital forecast.

  • Conditions assessment

  • Hazardous materials assessment.

  • Plumbing, heating and air conditioning assessment.

  • Key stakeholders meeting

  • Community Survey

The project deliverables will allow the Town Council to decide on budget and time frames.

The project has begun and a 100 foot crane was used recently to examine the clock tower, roof and upper reaches of the building
