Severe thunderstorms rolled through the region of Bruce County early this morning (Saturday, June 4) with heavy rain, winds and hail.
Several trees were uprooted and limbs broken.
Power was knocked out from Kincardine to Tobormory, Chesley to Owen Sound and throughout Saugeen Shores at approximately 9:00 a.m.. Although the cause was initially unknown, it was thought that lightning may have struck a transformer or that trees had felled hydro lines. With power completely out, businesses were closed for the majority of the day and, it was reported, that a tornado may have touched down near Paisley. Power was restored in the afternoon in some areas such as Southampton, but remained out in Port Elgin, Chesley and other communities well into the night.
