The Wismer House Shockers baseball team steps up to the plate

The 12th annual 'Cops for Cancer' golf fundraiser held May 28th at the Saugeen Golf and County Club was once again a success.

Mother Nature cooperated as more than 100 golfers turned out for the day of golf with another 30 rounding out the dinner numbers.

This year's event, organized again by the Wark family, featured the annual 'shave off' and, this year, there were 22 participants - breaking the former record.

One of  the highlights was the entire Wismer Shockers baseball team, each of whom had his head shaved.

More than $20,000 was raised this year to go toward the Canadian Cancer Society.

"It is amazing," said Jennifer Wright of the Canadian Cancer Society, "that $2.4 million has been raised in this area to date and it all goes to pediatric cancer.  There have been diagnoses in 24 families in this area since January of this year and one of the biggest costs is transportation for treatments.
