.5% tax increase is equivelent to  $30 000 . 12.5% tax increase is  equivelent to $750 000  56 wind turbines at$ 8 000/yr tax =  $448 000 . With wind turbine tax the  would only be a 5% tax increase.  Maybe those appossed to wind turbines  should have the tax increase and those  of us for see a decrease ??

12.5% are you kidding me? Why is that  HuronKinloss only gets a 2.3%  increase? This is nothing more than a  money grab by council spearheaded by  Kraemer...he must have another office  to renovate!

 It's ludicrous that they defeated a  12% tax rate increase BUT passed a  higher one. It doesn't make  sense!!!!! I'd like to know who  changed their vote or was it the one  that was absent when it was a tie with  one person absent.

Where does it end ? This area is very  affluent and heavily taxed already .They have to get  their spending under control . A lot of people live  with fixed incomes and are having trouble paying  their taxes now .

This rate is too much unless we also get a 10% increase in services.

 (Yes it is way to high when towns  around us with more than us have a  smaller rate hike. No we don't all  work at top paying jobs so think of  the big picture)

I can't believe they are raising our  taxes this amount. They just seem to  spray money around. I think a cut in  staff would be in order as there are  far too many people wandering around  doing nothing.

I definitely did not get a) a 12.5%  increase in my salary this year or b)  a 12.5% in the services provided to me  by the Municipality!

I don't work for Bruce Power and  thought the same increase over a  couple of years would be better but  now it looks like the Muncipality has  over spent and now wants to fix it in  one year. They spend a lot of money on  the town of Kincardine but not much on  the other villages Tiverton gets cut  cut cut save money for Kincardine

It looks like a huge increase but it  amounts to only $120 on the average  house.

Just Kincardine with all their Hydro  Palaces must have enough opportunities  to gather more than enough tax monies. What about municipalities without all  these expensive houses?

Just payback on minimal increases in  the past. Have some refenrendums on  what services taxpayers are willing to  cut or pay for

Kincardine is a fantastic well run  community. Kudos to the Mayor  Councillors and all of the Municipal  staff. I would gladly pay more to keep  this communmity great.

Liz in your article a few weeks ago  you said $5400 had been spent on  budget meetings already. Now another  meeting at what cost. You are correct  in saying it is ridiculous and  embarrassing to end up with 12.5%

Maybe council should be looking at what they are spending money on is it really required or would it just be nice to have. I think most municipalities do with much less.

People who rent out properties can't  raise rent that high. How in the world is this town allowed  to do this. Allow some box stores to come and keep  tax dollars in town. Where does the maor shop for  clothes NOT HERE!!!

They should be cutting things  starting with their own budget for  trips and perks.

This is only about $10 a month on a $200 000 home. I would like to be sure the money is being spent wisely.

Too many Town Trucks/vehicles being  driven around without tools to do any  work from them (Supervisors??). Study  the need 4 vehicles & then buy a  shuttle to transport workers around.  Save money on vehicles upkeep & Gas.

With the income dividends and grants  from BMTS Bruce Power and Hydro the  tax increase should be minimal? There  is a lot of mismanagement ie  overstaff idle equipment. trucks  sitting unused in works yards why  don't they hire some truks and  equipment when needed for some  seasonal work.

Yes 12.5 % is too high. The cost of  living is less than that. The average  wage increases are less than that too.  Is this just another case of our  municipality being poorly run? Yeah  probably. I think they should work all  year at trying to reduce or maintain  operating costs instead of only  looking at it over a couple council  meetings during budget time.
