Many Kincardine residents were cleaning up their properties Monday morning after the massive thunderstorm that hit the area Sunday night. Bruce Lawson of Parker Street was cleaning off his driveway where an inch of mud and other debris were left after the river of water receded. Addie Bulzgis and his son, Pat, who live on Kingsway, east of Queen Street, were also clearing away debris left by the flood waters. The basement of Pat's home was flooded which has never happened before, he said. And the backyard pool was full of muddy water. They had just opened the pool in anticipation of enjoying it over the holiday weekend. A tree beside their property, in the ravine, was broken off due to the major rainstorm, and Kincardine public works crews had been out to cut the limbs off before clearing it away. MacLeod Avenue was also flooded, as were a number of streets in the neighbourhood: Nelson, Mechanics and Princes Street North. Residents said it is a problem area that the Municipality of Kincardine will have to address. In fact, chief administrative officer John deRosenroll was discussing the issue with homeowners on Parker Street Monday morning. Flooding has been a problem in the past, on Golf Links Road and throughout the Huron Ridge subdivision, as well as in the subdivisions along Russell Street, near Huron Heights Public School.
