A common sight in winter but very unusual in the summer

More than 20 hydro poles down ...

... in both directions on Bruce Rd. #12

Trees uprooted

Severe thunderstorms rolled through Saugeen Shores and Bruce County again Tuesday night (June 7) knocking out power and taking down trees for the second time this week.

Unusual cloud formations were seen

High winds, thunder with extreme lightening, heavy rains and hail resulted in damage across the region and Highway 21 was closed due to 'downed' power lines, as more than 20 hydro poles along Bruce Rd. 12 were damaged.

Crews continue to work around the clock in an effort to restore power that was out for most of the next day (June 8) through much of the area.

Heavy winds and torrential downpour of rain

Several municipalities in Bruce and Grey Counties remain without power and the region is still under a 'thunderstorm watch'.

Tree between Southampton and Port Elgin tangled in hydro wires ...

... while many others lose limbs
