The Kincardine Insurance and Investment Professionals were thrilled to present a cheque for $5,300 to Community Living of Kincardine and District yesterday morning. The money comes from the successful Poor Boy's Luncheon held May 27 at the Kincardine Legion. More than 300 people attended the event, with proceeds expected to be around $4,500. However, that amount rose to $5,300 once all the numbers were crunched, said Bill Shewfelt of the professionals group. Joining him to make the presentation were Heather Padfield and Jennifer Cook. Absent were Matt Harvey, David Leigh, John Makela, Nancy Ackert, Dave Schmalz and Joe Macartney. Andy Swan, executive director of Kincardine Community Living, said the money will go toward the agency's fund-raising efforts to build a new apartment complex at the corner of Penetangore Row and Saratoga Road. Currently, there is an eight-unit apartment building there which houses members of Community Living, said Swan, adding that a proposed new building is still in the preliminary stages.
