Tuesday was the Longest Day of PLAY in Bruce and Grey counties, and many communities and schools in the area were up for the county-wide challenge. Kincardine's Huron Heights Public School students and staff marked the occasion by participating in activity sessions that are not commonly part of an elementary physical education program, said organizer Cathie Weatherall, a teacher at the school. The day began with yoga on the yard led by Eric Cunliffe. He then led a yoga workshop for Ms Weatherall's and Mr. Gowan's classes. Meanwhile, Cody Owens, owner of Magnum Personal Fitness, ran a fitness session for Mr. Urie's and Mrs. Leigh's classes. He also gave a talk about energy drinks. Keith Colley of Kincardine District Secondary School introduced skills related to the sport of rugby and introduced Mrs. MacDonald's and Mrs. Leppington's classes to Flag Rugby.
Alyssa Petraitis, Grade 4, at Huron Heights joins in the Zumba Fitness class And finally, Ms Syrett's and Ms McKellar's classes got a great work-out, thanks to Zumba Fitness instructor Kelsey Rackley. Zumba is an aerobics work-out to Latin music.
