Editor's Note:

The Grade 3 students at Elgin Market Public School have been learning some amazing things about empathy, the environment, caring for animals, hunger, and more, as they slowly transformed a blank, nameless and faceless doll from "Nobody" into "Somebody."

In the process, they have learned how much of who we are is shaped by how we treat others, and vice-versa.

The following letters to the editor encapsulate the presentations made by several students as they each took "Nobody" home for a week.

The "Who is Nobody" project is sponsored by the Kincardine Rotary Club. For more information, check the website at www.whoisnobody.com

Dear Editor:

We helped "Nobody" for a project. What we did was take "Nobody" home for a week so we could learn about him and teach him things too.

Dear Editor:

I am going to talk to you about "Nobody."

"Nobody" is a stuffed doll. We have to do something with him, so I helped my aunt. I helped her when we went to Niagara Falls because she had a new baby. I did it on Feb. 24 to March 2. I learned about responsibility.

Go to www.whoisnobody.com or visit our class for more information.

Dear Editor:

I am in Grade 3 at Elgin Market Public School. Today I would like to tell you about my "Nobody" project. You need to choose a topic, such as helping people, animals or the environment. I decided to help people.

I love to sing so I wondered how I could combine them together. I chose to go to Tiverton Manor to sing for elderly people. I met this nice lady named Karen. She set everything up.

The next day I went there again for my performance. I sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and “Farther Along” with my mom and sister. I read two poems and danced to the “Hoedown Throwdown.” Afterwards, my sister, Lydia, handed out cookies.

I practised really hard! There was a parrot named Wolfgang. He was funny and could say his name.

I went home and got ready to do my "Nobody" paragraph and pictures ready. "Nobody" and I learned empathy, kindness and to help people.

Sincerely,
Morgan Ritchie

The Grade 3 class at Elgin Market has turned "Nobody" into "Somebody"

Dear Editor:

Hi. My name is "Nobody." I am a good person. I have lots of friends because lots of people took me home. I learned lots of stuff, like how to keep the world clean and to help people and not to be mean.

What is a "Nobody?" When does "Nobody" come to someone’s house? Why is "Nobody" at school? To find out more information, go to www.whoisnobody.com or ask my sponsor, the Kincardine Rotary Club.

Sincerely,
Alannah VandenHogen
