Huron-Kinloss Township launches Ice Cream Trail

If you like ice cream, you're going to love a new contest launched by Huron-Kinloss Township.

The fun-filled photo scavenger hunt for the whole family takes you to ice cream stops along the trail, past beaches, golf courses, parks and a splash pad. Many adventures await you as you follow the Ice Cream Trail through Huron-Kinloss.

The eight stops include:

  • Lighthouse Gifts and Variety in Point Clark
  • Pine River Cheese on Highway 21
  • Family Funland on Highway 21
  • Farmers Diner in Ripley
  • Ripley Foodmart
  • Holyrood General Store
  • Sundae Treats in Lucknow
  • Grassroots Rural Retreat near Lucknow

You can do the Ice Cream Trail in one day or spread your adventure out over the summer. Take a break or have lunch at one of the local restaurants, or pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful beaches and parks. Top if all off with an ice cream for dessert and remember to take your bathing suit.

The contest has players follow a map to the eight ice cream stops and follow clues to find Sammy Sprinkles. To view the map, click here. Take a picture of you and Sammy at each stop to submit with the completed entry form, and send it to Huron-Kinloss Township, P.O. Box 130, 21 Queen St., Ripley, or E-mail to info@huronkinloss.com

The Ice Cream Trail runs June 25 to Sept. 30, and entries must be received by Oct. 15, 2011, to qualify for the grand prize.

After four pictures of you and Sammy, you can enter to receive a free nine-inch Frisbee. If you collect all the stops, you can enter to receive a free T-shirt (first 1,000 participants). All entries will be eligible for the grand prize of 250 Huron-Kinloss dollars to spend at local merchants.

Once the website is up and running, you can visit www.icecreamtrail.ca for contest details, and download your brochure to start your adventure. Brochures will also be available at local campsites, Ice Cream Trail stops, tourist offices, and local retail outlets, visit the Huron-Kinloss Township municipal office at 21 Queen St., or call 519-395-3735.

The Ice Cream Trail is a marketing initiative launched by the township to showcase what Huron-Kinloss has to offer for residents and visitors alike. The photo scavenger hunt will have contestants travelling to all the locations in the municipality that serve scooped ice cream, as well as new and fun destinations.

With the unique products and friendly service offered by the business community in Huron-Kinloss, contest participants will surely want to "Stay for awhile ... or a lifetime!"
