As you (readers) know, our (Bluewater School Board) budget didn't pass on Tuesday. It was a tie vote, so the motion died.
We are having an emergency board meeting on June 29. I expect a budget will be passed at that meeting, but I thought that would be the case this past Tuesday. Stay tuned.
We are also meeting with Ministry representatives at the Barrie regional office of the Ministry on July 5. (From memory which is always scary.)
Included in this email is the presentation from the financial analysis representatives from the Ministry who looked at the Windsor Essex Catholic DSB. They use a lot of education-ese in this report. But it is worth looking at.
After my last email, I received a kind offer to help. This person did the internet research for me, including finding the following commentary on a newspaper article about another school board:
“How do they approve the budget when it is a million dollars short of the required figure? Makes no sense to me”. “The budget shortfall will be made up this summer when the trustees will all set up lemonade stands or hold bake sales”.
